From our one-of-a-kind Stainless Steel monocoque chassis to our bespoke leather interiors, we are proud to produce the quintessential GT40 restomod. More than a mere replica, our cars are among the most comfortable, user-friendly and unique – a GT40 that you can actually live with! Improved driver ergonomics, updated suspension design and visceral performance all combine in a tribute package that simultaneously honors and outperforms the original Ford GT40.

All CAV GT40 restomods feature a TIG welded monocoque chassis constructed from Stainless Steel 304. To our knowledge, our GT40 restomod is the only GT40 with this unique and beautiful structure. Each panel is 3D modeled, lasercut and CNC bent before being hand welded in our proprietary jig system.

Our monocoque chassis is constructed from Stainless Steel 304 for its strength and corrosion-resistance. An Aluminum counterpart cannot produce the same stiffness without adding extra bulk. In turn this negates the weight saving of the otherwise lighter material. Moreover, bulking the chassis structures encroaches on valuable space which we prefer to use for extra fuel capacity and more interior room for the driver and passenger.

All CAV GT40 restomods are fitted with the most advanced body panels in the business. We still retain features from the original GT40s but we produce our body panels in-house using aerospace techniques and proprietary resin. This allows us to achieve class-leading fibre-to-resin ratio; producing the most accurate, strong and lightweight GT40 body panels.

The CAV GT is styled with a a classic appearance over the modern underpinnings. The CAV GT+ displays its modernity more prominently and includes newly developed features. For example: customised grilles / unique paint / larger wheels / electric wing mirrors. You also can add upgrades like electric power steering / reverse camera / alarm / immobiliser / etc. Many details come together to create an overall modernized GT40 that is still respectful of the original inspiration.

Here at CAV we build some of the most accommodating and ergonomic GT40 restomods. Our standard configuration is suitable for drivers and passengers up to 6’4″. We are happy to make customized changes for those who are taller.

The typical build time is approximately 6 months. Sometimes we may have a bit of a waiting list. Whatever the case, will always prioritise quality and attention to detail rather than rush a build. Contact us for more details and current time lines.

CAV GT40 restomods are designed to accommodate a wide range of engines. Ford small block units are the most popular and include 289ci, 302ci, 347ci, 351ci (Windsor) as well as modified units up to 427ci. Newer Modular engines from Ford such as the 5.0L Coyote are also readily installed.

CAV GT40 restomods are infinitely customizable. Popular engine upgrades include adding fuel injection to the standard Holley intake; levelling up to a Weber style 8-stack carburetor; or the full 8-stack with fuel injection. Contact us if you have something else in mind and we will advise you.

CAV GT40 restomods are equipped with Wilwood brake systems. Base models feature 4-pot calipers and 300mm vented discs at each corner. Upgraded brake systems include calipers with larger diameter pots, slotted discs and performance pad compounds for up to 70% greater performance.

CAV GT40 restomods are equipped with double A-frame wishbones at the front and multi-link geometry at the rear. Base models feature polymer bushings at the front. This can be upgraded to a fully adjustable rose-jointed system. The rear suspension is rose-jointed and fully adjustable as standard.

CAV GT40 restomods are designed to accommodate two styles of transaxle gearbox: either the 6-speed Getrag or 5-speed ZF. The Getrag transaxle is compact and lightweight with a familiar shift pattern. It is also the less expensive choice and suitable up to 450hp. The ZF transaxle is larger and better to suited to more powerful engines. It also features an original-style dog leg shift pattern.

Our 6-speed transaxle is the familiar Getrag 01E. Confusion arises when referring to Audi and Porsche variants of this gearbox. In truth they are all similar and were used in various applications at Audi and Porsche. Getrag is however the core manufacturer. For our application, we specify a 2-wheel-drive version with 108mm output shafts.

CAV GT40 restomods are designed to be fitted with classic style 5×4.5″ centre lock wheels. We offer either BRM or Halibrand styles in a range of sizes from 15″ to 18″.

Air conditioning is a standard and much needed installation.

Total weight depends on final specification but, thanks to our lightweight body panels, our GT40 restomods usually tip the scales at 1100kg (2425lbs).

Our international partners typically have a demonstrator vehicle in stock or in production. You are also welcome to schedule a visit to the CAV factory for a closer look at our GT40 replica in various stages of construction.

Since most of our builds are customized, the final cost depends on specification and configuration. Please contact us for detailed information.

Road registration procedures for specialized vehicles differ from one country to the next. Please contact us for specific information about your country.

We work with each of our clients personally. The first step is to complete a specification sheet and ask any questions. Once your specifications are settled, we will sign off the order and send your invoice to place a deposit and secure your spot in the production line. Please contact us directly at the CAV factory to begin the process.

Payments are scheduled by milestones as follows:
– 20% deposit secures your spot in the production line and begins the build process
– 30% is due once the chassis is complete
– 30% is due once the mechanicals are in place; or bodywork is painted (whichever first)
– 20% is due on completion and prior to Ex works delivery
